General Conditions

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.


Modifications to courses and prices

Prices for our courses are subject to change without prior notice. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue a course at any time without prior notice. We shall not be liable to you or to any third-party for any modification, price change, suspension or discontinuance of courses.


Course fee transfers

If you are unable to attend the enrolled course, you are required to inform the MSTI enrolment desk of your inability to attend no later than two working days prior to the course starting. If Mercmarine Training is informed prior to the said two working day period, the fees will be transferred to the next suitable course or a different course delivered on a future date.

For notifications of transfers that do not comply with the two-day notice period mentioned above, a course transfer penalty of 50% of the course fee will be enforced if you want a guaranteed place on a future course. However, you are allowed to make such transfers only twice. If you request for transfers more than twice, it will be considered a fresh booking. At this point, you will forfeit the course and penalty fee payments made for the course previously and will be required to make full payment for the new booking.

Subject to making a 50% penalty payment, if a transfer request is processed within the two working day period prior to course commencement, the fees will be transferred to the same course booked and paid for previously and not to a different course.

In the alternative, you have the option of attending the same course you booked earlier only in the following instances:

The requests of all participants who have made confirmed bookings have been processed.

The requests of all participants on the waiting list paying full the course fee are processed.

If after the two situations mentioned above, there is provision to accommodate more students into the course; your request for the transfer could be processed.

If you are absent for a customized course, you must forfeit the course fee in its entirety and you cannot transfer the course fee to any future course.


Refund of excess payments

Fees paid are not refundable or transferable to any other party. If fees are paid in excess of the amount due the balance will be refunded by cash or cheque or may be carried forward as a credit balance in under your name to be utilized towards payment of future course fees.

For the refunds, mentioned above, you must produce the original bank deposit slip or receipt.

A full refund will only be considered if the institute cancels or discontinues a course; resulting in booking of a course which is not offered by MSTI. For a full refund, you must surrender the original receipt and provide a letter addressed to MT requesting a full refund. The request must be approved by the Senior Management on the recommendation of the Head of Business Development.


Advance payments

Advance payments for course reservation is only accepted for course fees above LKR 20,000.00 and the minimum advance fee amount of LKR 10,000 should be paid in order to book a course.

For courses priced below LKR 20,000.00, full course fee needs to be paid at reservation.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Terms & Conditions by posting updates and changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check our website periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to our website or the Service following the posting of any changes to these Terms & Conditions constitutes acceptance of those changes.

(e) Any other information that you choose to send to us;

(f) Other information that you may provide for the processing of your orders or to answer a query, or for the purpose of a survey, or to make improvements to our website or to obtain special offers (if any) that may be offered.

By being on this website and browsing its contents in any form or manner you confirm and agree that you have no objection to any of the above information or any other that may have been collected during that time, being used by us for either contacting you or recording the visit in any way by us or our affiliated companies. You agree that you do not consider this in any way a breach of your rights either at the time of your access or any time in the future.

When registering yourself for the purpose of ordering online, kindly provide all the specific information requested to facilitate receiving any course related offers, information regarding new courses or promotions.


Avoid training session overlapping conditions.

You are not allowed to join the other online training session while you are logging in to this training session. In case, we or any regulatory body found that you have conducted the two online training sessions at the same time, certificate which is issued by our training institute, will be cancelled without reverting the payment.

You are able to join the M-Learning platform via web browser, iOS and android and should ensure that you have the requirements as listed below in order to match with your joining mode, you are going to select.
